Industrial marking and coding after the pandemic - edding compact printers to set new standards for many industries with "easy to use" approach

  • one device for a wide variety of printing applications and surfaces • reliability in daily use and precise print image
  • large selection of usable inks
  • uncomplicated handling and programming
  • stationary use on the production line as well as a flexible handheld device

Ahrensburg; October 7th 2021, edding, globally well-known German brand for high-quality markers and ink products for over six decades, is expanding its product portfolio in the B2B segment with a new generation of cost-effective and highly compatible industrial printers. Since the initial market launch was severely affected by the global corona lockdown, demand is currently increasing steadily. The versatile compact printer meets the future requirements of a wide variety of industries: It guarantees brilliant printing results on cardboard, plastics, metallic surfaces and even glass.

The new edding compact printers, designed together with development partner Elried (Oberhaching), are characterized by their ease of use, their small size and their versatile range of applications. The latest customer response at the specialist trade fairs Fachpack (Nuremberg) and PPMA Show (Birmingham) exceeded the expectations of both companies and confirms that many industries will be investing in small, versatile compact printers in the future. Flexibility, efficiency and sustainability are the most important decision criteria that the edding compact printer fulfils.

"The many positive feedback at this year's Fachpack and the PPMA Show confirm our forecasts: high-performance and highly compatible compact printers such as the edding portable or the edding in-line will quickly replace many of the previous marking and labelling systems in production and logistics",

explains Hannes Behacker, Vice President of the Industrial Tech Solutions business unit at edding.

Bastian Hofberger, Managing Director of development partner Elried adds:

“For almost two years now, the edding compact printer that we helped to develop has been proving its reliability and versatility in Industry 4.0. We are pleased that more and more companies are realizing that this small high-tech printer, which is easy to use even for inexperienced people, will change the way of industrial marking and coding.”

The two trade fairs for the logistics industry mark an extremely promising start for the upcoming sales offensive after the corona pandemic: the new compact printers with thermal inkjet technology (TIJ) have been increasingly being offered on target markets in Europe and overseas since September.

Specific uses, technology and sustainability

The edding compact printer can be used in a wide range of applications because the device is available in two versions: as a compact printer of the type “in-line”, for use on production lines and as a type “portable” printer with a handle and battery operated. Both devices are characterized by their ease of use and programming as well as their reliability in daily use.

Thanks to the many available inks and the short changeover times, the compact printer offers a wide range of marking solutions for the logistics, food, pharmaceutical, raw materials, automotive and aviation industries. Using thermal inkjet technology, almost any imaginable material can be printed on production lines and by hand. Integrated in upstream or downstream machines, the printers communicate with any type of network, production control or ERP system thanks to the Linux operating system and will continue to meet all common industrial standards in the future.

Operation can be carried out via an integrated touch display; the uncomplicated and quick change between the printing inks and colours ensures short idle times. This and the around 80 percent lower power consumption compared to a conventional continuous inkjet device (CIJ) also enable more sustainable production.
